Did you know that pH of foods interfere with the way your body functions and affects your weight? Some studies show that the alkaline diet may prevent the cancer, but I believe that is just a myth. But I do agree that alkaline diet might help you with keeping your body healthy.
So what is alkaline diet?
The diet maintains the pH balance of the body by consuming more alkaline foods and less acidic foods.
The pH is a scale that measures the degree of acidity and ranges from 0 (strongly acidic) to 14 (strongly alkaline). Optimal pH of the body is approximately 7.4.
When you metabolise foods and extract the energy from them, you are actually burning the foods. When you burn foods, they actually leave an ash residue, just like when you burn a wood. Acid ash makes you more exposed to diseases, whereas alkaline ash is considered protective.
- Eliminates toxins and reduces inflammation
- Increases metabolism,
- Improves physical performance and delays fatigue
- Prevents the bone loss
- Decreases risk of kidney stones and kidney failure
What foods to eat then?
It´s good to avoid acidic foods with a pH below 7 . A good diet should consist of 70% alkaline foods and 30% acidic foods. The ideal would be to have the pH level above 7.5, which helps you to maintain good immunity, improve metabolism and remove toxins out of your body.
Alkaline Foods: Mineral water, apple, almond, tomato, pineapple, strawberry, cherry, peach, apricot, banana, oranges, peppers, turnip, wild rice, corn, soybeans, dark green leaves, avocado, pumpkin, kiwi, cantaloupe, watermelon, tangerine, date, fig, mango, lettuce, eggplant, sweet potato, ginger, peas, lentils, egg, parsley, passion fruit, kale, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, artichokes, cucumber, lemon, watercress, onion, etc.

From above mentioned foods we can assume that vegetarians are the healthiest people on the planet 😀 I´m not a vegetarian and I most probably never will be. But I swear that eating more veggies than meat can help you feel better. I tried that in past. For several months I ate meat only once or twice per month and I started to feel a difference. I lost weight, physically I felt better, my skin looked better.
I´m not trying to convince people to become vegetarians. On the other side, I recommend eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and encourage people to try eat less meat to see if it makes any difference.
